Peak District Artisans exhibition

From now until 9th March Chatsworth House will be hosting the Peak District Artisans exhibition, offering a wealth of artistic diversity, from digital landscapes to ceramics. Established in 1991, Peak District Artisans is a highly successful association of some of the very best professional artists, makers and artisans based in and around the Peak District. Talks

Immerse yourself in Chatsworth’s rich and fascinating history with these informative talks. More stories from the servants’ hall With just one date remaining on 23rd February, you’ll need to be quick to get your tickets for this popular event. Delve into the past and enjoy a fascinating talk with stories on the lives of the servants and estate community at Chatsworth, exploring three centuries of change, from 1700 to 1950. Chatsworth through my eyes Another popular talk not to miss! Lord Burlington discusses the vision and values of the vibrant community at the heart of Chatsworth. The evolution of planting in the garden The 105-acre garden at Chatsworth is famous for exquisite landscaping and a beautiful array of different trees, flowers and shrubs. Explore Chatsworth

If you’d prefer to get out and discover the stunning grounds of Chatsworth and surrounding villages, then the guided walks are for you. Learn about how the landscape has evolved and take in some of the best views Chatsworth has to offer. Depending on how far you want to walk and how much you want to see, there is a short park walk, taking approximately two hours, and a long park walk, taking approximately four hours. The best winter walks in the Peak District

Winter can be one of the most magical times to explore the Peak District. With rolling moors shrouded in mist and challenging climbs that lead to breathtaking views, the varied landscape of one of Britain’s best loved national parks is an adventure all year round. To give you some ideas, we’ve selected four of the best winter walks that we know of so that you can take full advantage of the views. Whether you’re a seasoned rambler looking for a challenge or a lover of the great outdoors with a family of all ages in tow, there’s a walk to suit you. So, grab your boots, wrap up warm and enjoy this beautiful corner of the world on foot. The best winter walks in the Peak District  

1. Kinder moorland

This challenging 5 hour walk starts and ends at Edale, taking you high up on the windswept Kinder plateau. The terrain varies from rugged moorland to ancient woodland and farmland which has won awards for its habitat restoration. Look out for short eared owls and woodpeckers! View a map and route here.

2. Padley Gorge

This particular walk takes around 2 and a half hours and is ideal for people of all ages as there are no stiles and the terrain is moderate. The walk starts at Longshaw Estate and leads down through pretty woodlands to the beautiful scenery of Padley Gorge. Be sure to enjoy a stop at the legendary Grindleford Café! 3. Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park

Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park are fantastic to visit for young children, the Cavern itself even has pushchair access. For those interested in a walk, there’s a moderate circular walk that takes around 2 hours. It passes through stunning countryside and climbs to Solomon’s Temple which provides magnificent views of Buxton. Take a look at the route here.

4. Chatsworth

This stunning, 3 hour walk will blow away any January blues with far-reaching panoramic views of the Peak District and glimpses of the fabulous Chatsworth House. The Red Hurst cottage dining room is ideal for celebrating and tucking into a Christmas meal, with a dining table to seat 12. If that's still not quite enough space, you can book all 3 cottages together, to sleep up to 22, and enjoy Farditch Farm by yourselves!
