Monsal Trail and Monsal Head

Monsal

Commanding superb views over Monsal Dale, a valley in an area of Derbyshire’s Peak District known as the White Peak, the Monsal Head Hotel offers guests real food, with well priced seasonal menus, real ales from local micro breweries, a large outdoor seating area, and 7 en-suite bedrooms. The Hotel and Coaching Inn are in one of the most popular beauty spots in Derbyshire, with views over the valley and its famous viaduct, and a short distance from Chatsworth Estate, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock.

Situated at the head of a valley in Derbyshire’s White Peak, the Monsal Head Hotel occupies an enviable position overlooking one of the Peak District’s most beautiful Dales. The high vantage point affords unparalleled views over the valley, the famous railway viaduct, built in 1867, and the River Wye meandering beneath. North along Upperdale leads to Cressbrook, and West takes the eye, and the feet if willing, to the bold escarpment of Fin Cop and its Iron Age hill fort.

The Hotel itself is composed of several distinctly individual parts, and although both its dining areas serve the same superb seasonal food menus, they offer customers a uniquely different experience.
