Halloween in the Peak District 2019

Halloween is almost upon us! To help you enjoy this spooky time as much as possible, we’ve compiled all the fun, themed things that you can do near to our luxury holiday cottages.

Ghost Tour at Peak Cavern

October 5th, 12th and 19th

What’s spookier than being in a dark cave? Listening to ghost stories in one, of course! That’s exactly what you’ll have to look forward to on a Ghost Tour at Peak Cavern this Halloween.

The tours are candle-lit and comprise of tales of all the scary and mysterious happenings from around the town.

Gates open at 5.30pm with tours starting at 6pm.

Make sure to book online prior to your visit, as this can sell out pretty quickly and we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

Halloween Cinema at Peak Cavern

October 25th and 27th

Peak Cavern’s pop-up cinema is back again for 3 seriously spooky showings of The Conjuring, Poltergeist and Ghostbusters this Halloween.

The events are always a sell-out, so do make sure you book in advance. It promises to be a fantastic and memorable experience.

Lyme Park Autumn Woodland Trail

October 19th to November 7th

Explore the beautiful woodland of Lyme Park and learn about the folklore and fairy tales surrounding the area. You don’t need to book, simply show up and guide yourself around with the help of a trail booklet (£2 each). You can stop on by any time from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Standard admission prices also apply.

Lyme Park Pumpkin Carving

October 24th, 25th, 28th and 29th

Nothing is more quintessentially Halloween-esque than carving a good, old fashioned pumpkin. So, head on down to Lyme Park for one of their pumpkin carving sessions and have some fun. Tickets are £5.50 per child and include a pumpkin, equipment and templates – just make sure to dress for making a mess!

Pumpkin Carving at Cromford Mills

October 26th and 27th

This fun drop-in session runs from 11am to 3pm on both days and you can come by anytime. Pumpkins are £3.50 per child. Come along and have some fun!

Halloween at Haddon Hall

October 26th to October 31st

Halloween at Haddon Hall

Haddon Hall has quite a bit in store this spooky season. For the little ones, you can look forward to a Little School of Sorcery where youngsters can make potions, brooms, hats and wands, and join in on many fun games. There will also be a guest appearance from Kingsley Falconry Centre’s birds of prey on Saturday and Sunday.

For the adults, there is also a Magical Marks and Graffiti Tour (booking essential) where you can see the “Witches Marks” around the hall. These are believed to have been left by previous generations in the hopes that they would ward off evil spirits. Both interesting and spooky!

Bolsover Ghost Tours

October 26th to October 31st

Bolsover ghost tours

Discover Bolsover Castle in the dark on a chilling ghost tour. You will be led around the castle by candlelight whilst your guide tells you chilling stories about ghosts, mysteries and spooky happenings from around Bolsover. Booking is essential, so don’t miss out!

Spooky Bolsover Castle

October 26th to November 3rd

Perfect for young children, Bolsover Castle’s spooky Halloween event is a fun day out with the chance to win prizes in the fancy dress competition. There’s crafts, games, as well as a witch-themed quest for the little ones to partake in, so plenty to see and do. Swing on by any time from 11am to 4pm.

Spooky Fun at Bakewell Old House Museum

October 26th to November 2nd

Spooky Fun at Bakewell Old House Museum

From 11am to 4pm each day, you can stop on by Bakewell Old House Museum for some spooky fun. Kids can partake in the rat trail and there’s plenty of activities for the rest of the family, too!

Halloween Spooktacular at Matlock Farm Park

October 26th to November 3rd

For young children, the Matlock Farm Party truly will be spooktacular. There will be treasure hunts, ‘Witches and Wizards’ workshops, slime making, pumpkin carving and games galore (where you can win prizes!). Of course, many farm animals will also play a big part in the fun and youngsters can have a short pony ride for a small fee. You might even see Matlock’s Headless Horseman running around!

Chatsworth Halloween Hoot

October 26th to November 3rd

Chatsworth Halloween Hoot

Chatsworth House is hosting a fantastic few days’ worth of events for Halloween. There’s pumpkin trails, an abandoned tunnel to explore, crafts, interactive games and more. You can also listen to ghost stories in the garden and meet the animals in the farmyard. More details are being released soon, so make sure to check the Chatsworth House website closer to the date.

Starlight Spectacular at Crich Tramway Village

October 28th to November 2nd

There’s a week of Halloween fun planned at Crich Tramway Village this season. Each day of the week, there will be a different theme with interesting activities and attractions. All the while, the whole village will be lit up with pretty illuminations.

Halloween at the Heights

October 31st to November 3rd

Solve riddles on your treasure maps for the chance to win great prizes at the Heights of Abraham this Halloween. There will be fire pits at the summit of the hill for you to toast marshmallows over, plus many exhibitions to see. Come and enjoy the autumn views!
