With the warm weather and summer holidays on the horizon, festival season in the UK is well underway. Over recent years, the Peak District has become a popular setting for festivals of various types and sizes, so why not plan a trip here and experience one for yourself? We’ve rounded up some of the best festivals in the Peak District that are happening over the coming months, with something for everyone to enjoy.  

Woodside Festival

Date: 16th June Enjoy live music, art, wild activities and good food at this day festival set in the beautiful Erewash Valley. Organised by the Wildlife Trust, this event has been set up to raise awareness and funds for local wildlife. South of the Peak District, this festival will require a car or train journey, but promises to be well worth it.  

Eroica Britannia

Date: 18th June Set in 100 acres of woodlands and lush, green countryside, this 5 star family festival is one of the most highly anticipated events in the cycling calendar. There’s something for everyone with a whole range of entertainment. This includes organised bike rides, live music, fairground rides, festival yoga, as well as a kids club!  

Timber

Dates: 6th-8th July This new festival celebrates all forms of woodland culture. Exploring music, art, philosophy and sustainability, this unique event will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience for all ages.  

Bananallama

Dates: 13th-14th July Set in the beautiful countryside near Matlock, this eccentric festival is a celebration of music, the arts and... llamas! Enjoy delicious food and drink while you soak up the fun and quirky entertainment.  

Y Not

Dates: 26th-29th July This hugely popular festival in the heart of the Peak District is back again for its 13th year. With music from the likes of The Libertines and Manic Street Preachers, as well as a cinema, mini golf and comedy, there will certainly be something to keep everyone entertained.   We hope you enjoyed reading our blog on the best festivals in the Peak District. The last school holiday before the summer is just around the corner. With the weather picking up at this time of year, the Spring half term is always a great opportunity to get out and about as a family. If you’re staying at our holiday cottages or caravan site this half term, be in the know with our round-up of the best events and activities in the Peak District. Beside the Seaside at Crich Tramway village 26th May to 3rd June This popular annual event promises to be fun for all the family. Crich village will be transformed into a family seaside resort, complete with a ‘beach’ area, where children can build their own sandcastles, fairground rides and Punch and Judy Shows! If that wasn’t enough to keep everyone entertained there will be a Woodland Walk, Sculpture Trail and unlimited vintage seaside tram rides into open countryside.   Bamford sheepdog trials at Hope Valley 28th May Enjoy a slice of rural life with this great family day out. Watch skilled farmers and their dogs work to guide the sheep in the trials and enjoy delicious locally sourced refreshments. There will also be craft activities and a children’s play area to keep kids of all ages entertained.

Chatsworth House 26th May to 3rd June

A visit to Chatsworth House never disappoints. This half term they have a jam-packed calendar with an array of events and activities to suit children and adults alike. A main feature of the week will be a water spectacular in the gardens, with waterworks and features that are sure to delight. They’ll also be plenty to see and do in the farmyard, with a range of rural crafts, and why not meet a few birds of prey at the falconry? Wildfamilies at The Roaches 28th May These nature based activities take place in the stunning setting of The Roaches, a ridge above Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir with woodlands and panoramic views. With bug hunts and natural crafts, it’s a great way to get the kids interested in nature and exploring the outdoors. This event is free and there is no need to book.   We hope you’re inspired to get out and enjoy what’s on offer in the Peak District this half term. Staying with us this summer? Experience the unique local tradition of Well Dressing

Well Dressing is said to have been brought to the area by the Romans or the Celts and has been practised in the same way it is today since the 1800s. The tradition is kept alive by dedicated groups of volunteers and consists of wells being decorated in designs lovingly crafted by hand, using petals, clay and coffee beans, amongst other items. You can view these stunning displays and experience a slice of authentic local culture from May to September. It’s a great chance to explore some of the Peak Districts’ most picturesque towns and villages.

Spring is around the corner!

The Peak District is a year-round destination, with so much to see and do whatever the weather. But spring can be particularly spectacular as the landscape is bursting with new life. What better way to see the new season unfold than by taking part in the annual Snowdrop Walk at Hopton Hall. Each day between 1^st February and 4^th March, you can amble through 5 acres of enchanting woodland and marvel at the first signs of Derbyshire spring. There’s also a café serving warming soups, cakes and more. It’s a day out that the whole family will enjoy.

Peak District Artisans exhibition

From now until 9^th March Chatsworth House will be hosting the Peak District Artisans exhibition, offering a wealth of artistic diversity, from digital landscapes to ceramics. Established in 1991, Peak District Artisans is a highly successful association of some of the very best professional artists, makers and artisans based in and around the Peak District. Talks

Immerse yourself in Chatsworth’s rich and fascinating history with these informative talks. More stories from the servants’ hall With just one date remaining on 23^rd February, you’ll need to be quick to get your tickets for this popular event. Delve into the past and enjoy a fascinating talk with stories on the lives of the servants and estate community at Chatsworth, exploring three centuries of change, from 1700 to 1950. Explore Chatsworth

If you’d prefer to get out and discover the stunning grounds of Chatsworth and surrounding villages, then the guided walks are for you. Learn about how the landscape has evolved and take in some of the best views Chatsworth has to offer. Depending on how far you want to walk and how much you want to see, there is a short park walk, taking approximately two hours, and a long park walk, taking approximately four hours.
